Purpose: The PSP60816 Advanced Diploma of Translating qualification reflects the skills and knowledge required to translate special purpose texts from one language to another to convey information written using specific terminology for a specific audience. The qualification is designed for people who translate in highly specialized domains at the professional level in areas such as legal, medical, and business contexts.

By successfully completing the qualification, students will be well prepared for employment in a range of translation industry related roles.

Delivery Method : This program has been designed to be delivered through classroom based delivery and students must have the ability to attend the scheduled sessions as per the timetable.
Course Duration: 52 Weeks (including 40 scheduled tuition weeks and up to 12 weeks of holidays)

Weekly student contact hours: 20 hours

Education Pathways: Articulation into higher education programs may be possible from the PSP60816 Advanced Diploma of Translating qualification. Employment conditions, assignments and work roles in Australia will require practising translators to have certification from NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd).
Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for this qualification or any of the units of competency contained within it.
Entry Requirements:
  • Have completed Year 12 (Secondary School) or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age on commencement of the course.

Applicants must also demonstrate their language proficiency

– English Proficiency:

  • Students must demonstrate proficiency in English with a valid IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, or a recognized Degree or Diploma or equivalent studied in English.

– Mandarin Proficiency:

  • Students must be able to demonstrate they have basic proficiency in Mandarin/Chinese and achieve satisfactory results in the intake test.
  • Completing a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment conducted by ANAE
